Lebanon Hills is built and maintained by volunteers. Without them there would be no trails to ride. We hold trail work sessions on Tuesdays at 6pm throughout the spring, summer and fall months (often taking the hottest month of the year off). Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary. We provide the tools and the knowledge (and sometimes fresh baked cookies).
How do I get involved?
We announce trail work each week and include specific details. Find these announcements in one of these two locations:
– On Facebook
– On the MORC Web Site, Lebanon Hills Forums
Volunteering is a great way to give back to the trail and to build an entirely new sense of ownership in the trails. Words can’t describe the difference it can make once you have put your mark on the trails. We’d love to have you join us!
Here is a list of frequently asked questions. Simply click on a question and get your answer. If the question you have isn’t answered below, please feel free to fill out the contact form above and someone will get back to you shortly.
Where do you meet? (click questions to expand)
We usually meet in the West Trailhead parking lot. Sometimes we meet in alternate locations, so it is a good idea to refer to the individual trail work announcements for additional details.
Do I need experience to volunteer?
Nope! Everyone is welcome. We will show you what we’re working on at the start of the session and help demonstrate how to accomplish the mission at hand. Not only that, but we also have a safety talk before each trail work session. You might want to bring some water, gloves and work clothes.
What should I bring?
We supply all the tools. We suggest wearing good work clothing (gloves etc.) and something to drink (especially on hot days).
Can I bring my kids?
In general trail work is not a safe place for kids. However, if you contact us ahead of time we can maybe find something more suited to younger kids. Anyone under 18 must have a guardians signature.
How long do you work?
Unless otherwise noted, we start at 6pm and go until around 8pm. Sometimes we are out earlier but its not too common to stay much later. As fall arrives we start to lose daylight so our sessions become shorter. If you want to volunteer but you need to leave early (or come late) that is perfectly ok! We’ll help you find the work site and/or your way back to the parking lot.
